Hello banger friends. My nick name is Hawk. My fascination with vintage racers started before I was born. Dad had a Crager sprint car, a Ford 60 midget, a Willys-powered Midget and an Auburn-powered lakes type car before WW2. They all went into the scrap drive when he enlisted in the army. After the war he spent a little time back at Olympic stadium, near Kansas City where his racing cars ran before the war, but no longer as an owner or driver. He became an avid restorer after that and would answer any racing question and take us boys to various races as long as we would promise to stay out of the cock pit. He was the world's best Dad ever, also the best mentor. My serious racing began in 1974 as a mechanic/sponsor in SCCA road racing and driving Sprites and a TR3 in local autocrosses. I attempted to support myself working on sports cars for the next 15 years, then began restoring vintage American cars, also, and at the same time beginning to build A-powered speedsters and occasionally driving dirt track vintage racers. Today I am priviledged to be able to design and construct authentic vintage racers of the 20's and 30's for my customers. Though my intention is to contribute helpful info and encouragement to you on this site and not use it for promotion, you can see some of my cars on my web site www.olympic-speedsters.com
